The Brownsville Public Library and the Brownsville Museum of Fine Arts will be hosting the “Vivaldi: Four Seasons” Saturday and Sunday, sponsored by Dr. Roberto Robles and his wife Perla Robles.

The event is a series of three free concerts by Aldo Peralta and six associates, where Vivaldi’s masterwork will be performed live. The concerts will last about 40 minutes and will take place at the Brownsville Museum of Fine Arts at 1 p.m. Saturday, at the Brownsville Public Library Central Main at 2 p.m. Sunday and lastly at the Brownsville Public Library Southmost Branch at 5 p.m. also on Sunday.

Robles said he chose Vivaldi’s signature composition because of over 500 compositions this is the one he is best-known for. He encourages the community to go to the concerts and take their family members, especially young kids.

“When young people listen to this music for the first time, sometimes it changes them forever. It is the experience of a lifetime,” Robles said. “I would love to see the kids out there listening to this type of music.”

Robles has followed Peralta’s trajectory for many years now. Peralta has performed different ensembles at Robles’ house for several times throughout the years and is described as a “phenomenal player.”

Peralta, who also serves as a music instructor at the Brownsville Museum of Fine Arts, said he has been discussing with Dr. Robles a way on which they can make Brownsville’s community closer to classical music for several years now.

“Many years ago this kind of idea to produce classical music productions started to get closer to the community and giving concerts in this kind of genre,” Peralta said. “Dr. Robles has been a great promoter for the arts and here in Brownsville we have been working for years to make something like this possible, so, we were very excited with the idea of producing the “Four Seasons” and being able to gather a group of professional musicians here in the community.”

Jesus Morales, associate director for the ensemble, who will also be performing at the concerts, said Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons” are one of a kind and everyone should at least experience them at least once in their lifetime.

“The ‘Four Seasons’ are timeless, they have been played forever and with each season you get a certain sonnet and certain sections of the music that are represented. It was the first type of composition in that genre,” he said.

Peralta and Morales encourage everyone to attend the event and have a great time listening to classical music. They said a classical music concert opens a whole new world for those who have never attended a concert of this type of music.

“I think it’s evident now that Brownsville is supporting live music and supporting local artists. It gives the community an opportunity to experience something that is happening right here in our hometown and they don’t have to travel to Europe or a big city to experience,” Morales said. “This music is timeless and we are excited to invite everyone to come and live through this music.”
