Harlingen to hold food distribution on Thursday

The City of Harlingen is reminding residents it will hold three more food distribution events will take place here as part of a partnership with Food Bank RGV.

The dates are Thursday, May 21; Wednesday, June 10; and Wednesday, June 17.

City staff recently participated in three food distributions at the Harlingen Soccer Complex.  In all more than 1400 families were helped with canned goods and fruits and vegetables.

With so many people still without a job, City leaders worked tirelessly to secure more distributions in our City.

Food Bank RGV agreed to come back as long as the City provides the volunteers to manage the site and distribute the food.

The food distribution schedule is as follows:

  • May 21 from 9-11 a.m.
  • June 10 from 9-11 a.m.
  • June 17 from 9-11 a.m.

All three new food distributions will be held at the Harlingen Soccer Complex located at 4515 E.  Harrison.  As before, they will be drive-thru only and people don’t have to get off their vehicles.
