Scorpions split at RRAC Crossover Tournament
FORT WORTH - The University of Texas at Brownsville-Texas Southmost College volleyball team won and lost by identical 3-0 scores Saturday in the Red River Athletic Conference Crossover Tournament at Texas Wesleyan's Sid Richardson Center.
The Scorpions won 25-12, 25-23, 25-12 over Paul Quinn before falling to Southwestern Assemblies of God 25-15, 25-19, 25-16.
Jeanne O'Leary led the Scorpions in kills with 15 and digs with 15 against Paul Quinn. Jenny Soto also had a double-double with 22 assists and 12 digs.
Jacque Touchet added nine kills, 12 digs and four blocks, Chelsea Spadaro had nine kills, eight assists and three blocks, and Anayeli Trevino added 13 digs.
Aaginst SWAGU, O'Leary led the Scorpions with six kills and added 11 digs. Touchet had 11 digs and four blocks, Spadaro had 15 assists and Trevino had 13 digs.
The Scorpions (7-16, 5-3) have eight matches remaining on the regular season schedule. UTB-TSC next plays host to Texas A&M-Kingsville on Oct. 29 at the Manuel Garza B. Gymnasium.
The Scorpions then play four matches in San Antonio, Austin and Houston from Oct. 31 through Nov. 2 before finishing the season with three conference matches at home Nov. 7 and 8.
