UTB-TSC Capsules: Scorpions men's soccer team plays host to San Jacinto in exhibition
The University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College men’s soccer team will begin the 2009 season Saturday with an exhibition game against San Jacinto College at 8 p.m. at the new REK Center Field. This will be the first game the Scorpions play on the new field after playing at Morningside Park in 2007 and 2008.
The Scorpions begin the 2009 season with the focus on returning to the NAIA national tournament after losing to the University of Mobile during the tournament’s opening round in 2008. UTB-TSC finished the 2008 season 15-5 and was undefeated in Red River Athletic Conference play.
UTB-TSC will begin its regular season schedule at 7 p.m. Wednesday against RRAC foe Huston-Tillotson in a non-conference game at REK Center Field.
Seating at REK Center Field is limited, so fans are encouraged to bring a chair or a blanket and make themselves comfortable on a grassy berm overlooking the field.
Scorpions' volleyball season set to begin
The UTB-TSC women’s volleyball team will begin the 2009 season Saturday with matches against Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and Red River Athletic Conference opponent Our Lady of the Lake in the Manuel Garza B. Gymnasium.

After Saturday, UTB-TSC will hit the road for multiple matches and will return home Sept. 19, when the team begins its 2009 RRAC schedule against Our Lady of the Lake.
