UTB-TSC Capsules: Scorpions start series against Fisher on Monday
Riding a six-game winning streak, the University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College starts a Spring Break marathon of games with a single game against Fisher College (Mass.) at 6 p.m. Monday at Scorpion Field.
The Scorpions (18-5), have swept two straight Red River Athletic Conference three-game series against Bacone College (Okla.) and Jarvis Christian College. UTB-TSC is 13-2 and resumes RRAC play at home Friday against Wiley College.
But first comes Fisher College, which is visiting South Texas during Spring Break for the fourth straight year. UTB-TSC is 10-2 all-time against Fisher in three seasons and will play Fisher five times from Monday to Thursday.

Scorpions shoot 299 in first round at UST Mamiya Tournament
FORT WORTH - Adam Haley shot an even par 72 to lead the University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College men's golf team in the first round of the UST Mamiya Intercollegiate Golf Tournament Sunday at Hawks Creek Golf Club.
The Scorpions tee off at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday in the second round of the tournament.
UTB-TSC shot a team total of 299, which ranked them tied for eighth place with Southwestern University. Abilene Christian leads the tournament with a 280 score, 19 shots ahead of the Scorpions.
Haley, who shares the NAIA school record for low round with a four-under par score in 2008-09, had his best round of the current season.
Vince Cavazos followed with a 75, while Anthony Milligan and Marcus Cavazos each shot 76 scores. Eric Cavazos' 77 did not count toward the team total.
"We played well, but just left a lot of shots on the green," Scorpions golf coach Anthony Lopez said. "If we would have made some putts today, we could have shot 288."
The team stayed out on the course after the round and practiced on the greens.
There were a lot of good scores turned in Monday. Haley trails tournament leader Oscar Stark of Oklahoma Christian, who shot a 64.
Among the NAIA schools, the Scorpions are in fifth place. Two other Red River Athletic Conference teams are participating. Our Lady of the Lake shot 288 and Teas Wesleyan University carded a 305.
