Horse Racing Capsules: NYC Off-Track Betting goes to tougher plan 'B'
ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — New York City Off-Track Betting Corp. CEO Greg Rayburn says failure to negotiate a deal with the agency's unions to take advantage of a state early retirement incentive means OTB has to turn to another way to remain solvent.
Rayburn had said Tuesday was a deadline for the two major unions to agree on a deal that would shed some jobs through early retirement, rather than layoffs.
Now OTB will work with its creditors in the continuing bankruptcy process to find a way to automate operations to stay solvent. An option for that was to void the current labor contracts covering more than 1,000 workers.
Negotiations continue with union leaders.
