College Sports Capsules: MSU's Korie Lucious faces drunken driving charge

EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Michigan State basketball star Korie Lucious faces a charge of operating while intoxicated.

The 20-year-old guard was pulled over early Monday near campus and his blood-alcohol level was 0.09 percent.

He has 10 days to be arraigned and hadn't as of mid-afternoon Tuesday.

Michigan State spokesman John Lewandowski says the school knows of the ticket and is gathering information.

Lucious made a game-winning, 3-point shot to lift the Spartans into the round of 16 in the NCAA tournament last season and helped them advance to the Final Four. The Milwaukee native was suspended for a game last season for missing class.

He's expected to be a key player this season as a junior on a team expected to be one of the nation's best.

WVU's Mazzulla in trouble with law again

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) — Morgantown police have issued citations to two West Virginia basketball players on a disorderly conduct charge.

Morgantown Municipal Court clerk Joyce Marshall said Tuesday that officers cited guards Joe Mazzulla and Dalton Pepper for allegedly urinating in public in downtown Morgantown on Sunday.

Marshall says if the pair contest the citations, they'll face a Nov. 1 court date. Or they can plead guilty and pay fines ranging from $135 to $535.

In a statement, WVU coach Bob Huggins says he was aware of the incident and the matter is being handled internally.

Huggins suspended Mazzulla in April 2009 after the player's second arrest in nine months. Mazzulla pleaded no contest last August to a disorderly conduct charge and was reinstated to the team that month.
