Favre, Packers need to wake up
Comments 0 | Recommend 0
The Green Bay Packers and Brett Favre's soap opera is starting to grow tiresome so I'm here to offer a simple solution: just let him play.
If Favre thinks they are going to grant his outright release he must've gone koo-koo for Cocoa Puffs because Minnesota would scoop him up.
The Vikings grabbing the Madden 09' cover guy would put them on a Super Bowl-caliber level and Green Bay is not going to let that happen especially with a division rival.
In fact, you can ostensibly count out every NFC team too for that matter.
Only a few squads would make sense including the Ravens and Jets.
Unfortunately, those teams have reported no interest.
We've heard the cries how Brett doesn't feel welcome, Green Bay says they've moved on and that Aaron Rodgers is the starting quarterback.
The reality is if Rodgers starts the year 0-3 (Minnesota, Detroit Dallas) or 1-2 guess who'll be behind center.
Numero cuatro!
Even at 38-years-old the Canton bound quarterback showed last year he isn't done.
Favre had a plus-13 touchdown interception ratio (28/13) along with his most accurate passing season ever with a 66.5 completion percentage.
Yards per attempt were tops in his career at 7.8 with a 95.7 quarterback rating and amassed 4,155 yards the third-highest passing total he's had in nearly a decade.
ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported Favre working out and throwing at a local high school facility which has me thinking one thing.
Favre is feeling he has something to prove.
No. 4 is one of the best competitors the game of football has seen and with training camp merely two weeks away I can almost guarantee you'll see him there.
As much as the Green Bay organizations claims Favre will play a "different role" than a starter.
I seriously doubt the Packers are willing to dish out $12 million for Favre to put a headset and take notes.
Welcome or not, Favre needs to show up and he'll be starting because that's who gives the Packers the best chance to win.
Both sides need to just swallow their pride and wake up.
