UTB-TSC camp site changed to Scorpion Field
There has been a site change for the men's soccer tryout camp organized by the University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College.
The camp is for graduating high school seniors and is scheduled to run from 4-7 p.m. today and 8-11 a.m. Saturday. The camp site both days is now the UTB-TSC baseball field. Previously, the camp was to be held at Morningside Park.
"I apologize for the inconvenience." UTB-TSC men's soccer coach Dan Balaguero said. "We hope every-one gets the message about the site change."
The Scorpions recently held a tryout camp for college-age players. This one is exclusively for male high school players who are seniors.
The fee to participate in the camp is $50. Participants must sign a medical release form.
The Scorpions return seven starters from the 2007 squad that went 14-5-1 and won Red River Athletic Conference regular-season and conference tournament titles. UTB-TSC advanced to the Region VI Tour-nament before ending the season just short of qualifying for the NAIA nationals.
UTB-TSC finished ranked third in Region VI, which is a traditionally strong region for NAIA men's soccer.
Balaguero already has signed some recruits for the coming season and said he plans to add some more players to the team.
