UTB-TSC assistant men's soccer coach resigns

Andrew Ravanello, an assistant men’s soccer coach at the University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College, has resigned.

Vince Solis, associate vice-president for student affairs at UTB-TSC, said Tuesday that Ravenello submitted a letter of resignation early last week.

When asked if Ravanello had given a reason for the resignation, Solis said, "The letter just indicated that he was resigning."

Solis said Ravanello’s position with UTB-TSC was as a part-time employee.

Ronnie Zamora, UTB-TSC sports information director, confirmed Ravanello was no longer with the team. He said Ravanello was last with the Scorpions from Nov. 5 through 7 when they won the Red River Athletic Conference Tournament in Fort Worth for a third straight year.

Ravanello, a native of Australia, was in his third season as the Scorpions assistant men’s soccer coach when he resigned. He had been with the team since the soccer program began at UTB-TSC in 2007.

The resignation leaves the Scorpions men’s soccer team with Dan Balguero as head coach and James McCarron as the lone assistant.
