Why are Cameron County officials hiring outside attorneys to handle delinquent property taxes?
Of course the politicians conducting this selection for the firm collecting delinquent taxes of this area select the agency that puts up a lower bid. This issue should be put up as a vote to the voters if outside attorneys should have a say in this matter.
This county issue should be handled by our local attorneys, and not by outside legal firms.
Yeah, during elections contributors spinning the idea of submitting their firms for this job of course dish out more money for the politicians. If they’re selected, isn’t it a conflict of interest? Hey, ask the voters.
What is the outcome? Of course this outside firms will become the choice. As they say, money talks.
As of right now, an outside law firm from San Antonio is handling the delinquent taxes. It lists a post-office box as its address. Why doesn’t this firm list its street address?
It’s hard to believe the property owners from North Texas will ever hire Brownsville lawyers to handle their county delinquent property taxes. So why should Cameron County allow this to happen here?
Let me tell you, the folks of this area should put a stop to this. We don’t expect North Texas or Central Texas lawyers, outsiders, to handle our county matters. Create jobs here for the county.
Please continue to stand together at election time, and speak up on not hiring outside firms.

Palm beautification generates applause
My late wife would be very pleased if she could see the new paving the city did on Palm Boulevard. She loved Brownsville and Palm Boulevard.
Thanks to Mayor Martinez and the city commissioners. Now if they can find the funds to complete the beautification of our most historic street by replacing the flowers and plants in the median, trimming the palm trees and banning large trucks, Palm Boulevard will once again be a source of civic pride to our city.
