'Salute to Troops' Appreciation Day

The Gladys Porter Zoo will hold a special flag raising ceremony this weekend to honor active and retired members of the military and allow them to visit the zoo at a discount.
The flag raising ceremony, which begins at 10 a.m. Saturday, will officially kick off "A Salute to our Troops" appreciation day at the zoo.
All military personnel and their family members will enjoy the discounted price.
"Everyone in the household gets in for $3 per guest," said Gladys Porter Zoo Public Relations Coordinator Charlie Abrego.
Abrego says the ceremony will also be the start of a continuous military discount the zoo will offer military personnel.
