Man accused of kidnapping ex-wife to DA's office
Brownsville police arrested a man for kidnapping his ex-wife Friday after he allegedly took her to the Cameron County District Attorney’s Office in order to force her to drop previous family violence charges levied against him.
Luciano Castro Gonzalez, 40, is charged with aggravated kidnapping, making terroristic threats, assault and violating a protective order in connection with an incident that occurred Friday.
A court order prohibited Gonzalez from contacting his ex-wife because of a previous family violence charge, Brownsville police spokesman J.J. Treviño said.
So in an attempt to make her drop the charges against him, Gonzalez forced her to go to the district attorney’s office, and in doing so, violated the protective order against him, Treviño said.
He was then arrested at the office for kidnapping his wife, violating the order and threatening her, Treviño said.
A judge set his bond at $30,000 for the kidnapping charge, $1,000 for violating the protective order and $2,000 each for the assault and threat charges.
