BEAUMONT, Texas (AP) — Four people are dead after a head-on collision of two vehicles on a dark recreational road in East Texas.
The Texas Department of Public Safety reports the accident happened about 8:30 p.m. Friday on Recreational Road 255, about a mile east of the Neches River and about 120 miles northeast of Houston.
Jasper County Justice of the Peace Freddie Miller tells the Beaumont Enterprise the dead are 28-year-old Christopher Lemond Douglas, 37-year-old Stacey Rae Henry, 13-year-old Tyra Moye and 11-year-old Tiara Moye. DPS Trooper Lester McCray says the Woodville residents were in a sport utility vehicle Douglas was driving when it slammed into an oncoming pickup truck.
