A Brownsville couple was arrested over the weekend on robbery charges after police say they allegedly attacked a JC Penny employee while they allegedly tried to shoplift at the store.
Authorities said Pedro Casas, 36, and Angelica Rubio, 32, attacked the guard Sunday afternoon.
Casas reportedly displayed a screwdriver at the store employee as he and Rubio tried to flee the store. A third suspect, a juvenile, is accused of biting the employee on the arm several times.
As the attack occurred, a citizen pulled the trio off the employee as police were called to the scene.
Casas and Rubio were charged with aggravated robbery, engaging in criminal activity and endangering a child. The couple reportedly had two small children with them when the incident occurred.
Casas bonds totaled $25,000 while Rubio’s bonds totaled $20,000. The juvenile suspect was turned over to juvenile authorities.
The children were turned over to a family friend.
