Border Patrol: Brothers, woman used Jet Skis to smuggle undocumented immigrants
Federal agents arrested two men and a woman accused of smuggling undocumented immigrants into the U.S. using jet skis.
Anthony Rodriguez, Andy Rodriguez and Beatriz Manzano Luna were arrested Friday afternoon at Boca Chica Beach. All three were later charged with alien smuggling, court records show.
The U.S. Coast Guard alerted U.S. Border Patrol and U.S. Customs and Border Protection about a couple of jet skis being used to transport people across the Rio Grande, according to the USBP.
CBP Marine Interdiction agents rushed to the scene and arrested Manzano as she was trying to load her Jet Ski to a green GMC Yukon, records show.
US Border Patrol agents later arrested the two Rodriguez brothers at the Boca Chica Beach Checkpoint as they tried drive back to Brownsville in a black Jeep Cherokee and a gray Pontiac Grand Am that were towing two more Jet Skis, USBP said.
The undocumented immigrants were also detained pending immigration hearing and some are being held as material witnesses, records show.
