8 new troopers in the Valley

The Texas Department of Public Safety graduated 68 new troopers during an Austin ceremony recently. Eight of the new Troopers are from the Rio Grande Valley.

They include Robert John Flores, Harlingen; Jesus Garza, Brownsville; Maria Hernandez, Weslaco; Jose Luz Martinez Jr., San Juan; Joe Angel Muniz Jr., Weslaco; Hector Resendiz, Brownsville; Mario Albert Sierra, Mission; and Jason S. Vela, Brownsville.

The troopers began the 28-week training academy in March.

In the next few weeks, they will move to their new duty stations. They will spend the first six months in on-the-job training with a senior trooper.
