Trash-strewn streets
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Issue:
Sharon Putegnat, director of the Episcopal Day School, is concerned about the condition of Brownsville’s streets, specifically the amount of trash.
As an active member of Environmental Trend Benders with the Healthy Communities of Brownsville, she has participated in trash pick-ups for years, but little has changed in that time, according to Putegnat.
“If everyone would take care of their own trash we wouldn’t have this problem,” Putegnat said. “But, we’re out of control. What can we do as citizens?”
Who to call:
Public Works Department at (956) 547-6572
What they said:
Santana Torres, interim director of Public Works, said citizens can call the department with complaints about excessive trash on the street.
“We will send someone out to survey the problem and if we need to we’ll gather up a crew and take care of the problem,” Torres said.
