Local graduates complete naval training

Two Rio Grande Valley natives completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.
Navy Seaman Michele B. Chapa, of Los Fresnos, and Navy Seaman Roberto W. Martinez, of Brownsville, recently finished the eight-week program.
Both took part in a variety of training exercises, which included firefighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety.
Chapa, a 2006 graduate of Los Fresnos High School, is the daughter of Anabriso and Maria C. Barrera of Los Fresnos.
Martinez, a 2006 graduate of Pace High School, is the son of Jorge A. and Marisol Martinez of Brownsville.
