Texas students sick, not their prescribed meds

CLEVELAND, Texas (AP) — Health officials believe more than a dozen students at a Central Texas high school allegedly took someone else's prescription medicine and became sick at school.

A spokeswoman for the Cleveland Independent School District did not immediately return a message Wednesday to provide an update on the students.

Some students at Cleveland High School, about 45 miles northeast of Houston, began throwing up and appeared incoherent after lunch Tuesday.

Eight students were treated and released from Cleveland Regional Medical Center. Hospital CEO Gene Schuler says the children were involved with taking someone else's prescription medications and reacted to the drugs. Eight other youngsters were treated at school.

Details on the medication have not been released. Police are investigating the source of the drugs.
