Rain forces change in UTB-TSC graduation

The constant rain has forced The University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College to relocate its 15th Winter Commencement taking place this weekend.

Because of wet conditions on the Cardenas South Hall lawn, the graduation ceremony has been moved to the Oliveira Memorial Library parking lot.

The ceremony will begin at 9 a.m, Saturday, Dec. 19. Graduates will still check in at 7:30 a.m. at Garza Gym while the faculty checks in is at the annex of the Garza gym.

More than 1,000 students are eligible to take part in the commencement. The number of students graduating includes those who finished in August. Graduates will be receiving certificate, associate, bachelor’s and master’s degrees.

The graduation speaker will be John Hunter Jr., a 2009 UTB-TSC Distinguished Alumnus.
