Gas prices slip penny in Texas; even cheaper in the Valley

IRVING, Texas (AP) — Retail gasoline prices across Texas slipped a penny this week.

AAA Texas on Thursday reported the average price per gallon at the pump was $2.34.

In Brownsville, the prices of gasoline ranged from a low of $2.21 to $2.29 a gallon. In San Benito, the price averaged $2.25 a gallon.

Nationally, gasoline prices declined by 2 cents, to reach $2.53.

Houston had the cheapest gasoline in Texas, at $2.28 a gallon. El Paso had the most expensive gasoline, at $2.43.

AAA Texas notes the peak summer driving season is over and the gasoline market has entered what has traditionally been a period of weak demand.
