Bomb threat shuts down H.E.B. parking lot
ALAMO — A safe in the parking lot of the H.E.B. here has shut down the store and brought in law enforcement agencies from across the county.
From the initial call, it appeared some sort of substance was oozing out of the safe, but "We don't know what we have in here," said Alamo Police Chief Arturo Espinoza.
Someone noticed the safe and called police shortly before 10 a.m. today.
"We don't know if it's anything," Espinoza said.
McAllen bomb squad should arrive by 12:30 p.m. and it could take three or four hours to figure out what happened.
More than 20 employees are in the closed H.E.B.
The black box is now surrounded by shopping carts.
Alamo police are checking with other area police departments to see if there have been any reports of a missing combination safe.
