Mexican army rescues seven kidnapping victims
Comments 0The Mexican army announced the successful rescue of seven kidnapping victims in the rural town of Anahuac, near the city of Valle Hermoso about 30 miles south of Brownsville.
According to a press release, the rescue took place Monday at 1 a.m. after a violent firefight that occurred when a military convoy came under attack as it patrolled along Jesus Carrillo Marroquin Street in the Los Fresnos neighborhood of Anahuac.
The army said there were no casualties among its personnel but that some of the gunmen were wounded or killed. The number was unknown because those wounded or killed were retrieved by others in their group, the statement said.
No arrests were reported.
After the firefight, the military rescued seven kidnapping victims that allegedly had been left behind. Their names were not available.
The release did not give additional details.
