Los Fresnos to consider naming school after Romero

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

The Los Fresnos City Council will consider today approval of a proclamation to name a new elementary school after former school board member Dora Romero.

Though the school board has the final say on the names of new schools, the council - like all Los Fresnos residents - can put forth its recommendation before Sept. 30.

A committee of faculty and community members will then pass on several of those recommendations to the school board. The board will then choose from the recommended names or suggest its own alternatives.

The council will also discuss the possibility of disannexing some of the city's land at the meeting. The city's boundaries would change accordingly.
