More accusations made against BISD assistant principal
A suspended Porter High School administrator was back in court this morning after more accusations of having improper relationships with students were filed against him.
James Camden McKinney, 48, assistant principal at Porter High School, turned himself in to Brownsville Independent School District police Tuesday afternoon after finding out he was wanted on four more charges of having improper relationships with a student, his attorney said.
McKinney was arraigned before Municipal Judge Ignacio Torteya III, who set a total bond of $400,000. He was transported to the Carrizalez-Rucker Detention Center in Olmito after failing to post bond.
At this morning’s arraignment state prosecutors said that McKinney is accused of soliciting sex from four students via text messages. The date that this allegedly occurred was not immediately available.
McKinney was out on a $40,000 bond after having been arrested last month after BISD conducted an investigation and charged him with one count of online solicitation of a minor.
McKinney had been suspended from the school since the investigation began in October, said his defense attorney Robert Garza. McKinney has been employed by BISD for more than 20 years, he added.
In the first case, McKinney is charged with soliciting sex from a 15-year-old student using phone text messages.
