Port Isabel native completes naval training

Navy Seaman Recruit Oscar Valdez III of Port Isabel recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.
During the eight-week program, Valdez completed a variety of training which included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs.
Valdez is a 2001 graduate of Port Isabel High School and the son of Irma and Oscar Valdez of Port Isabel.
