Man arrested with more than 330 pounds of pot
Comments 0 | Recommend 0A man from Veracruz was arrested for storing over 330 pounds of marijuana in his Brownsville apartment, police said.
Santiago Ruiz Castillo was arrested at approximately 11:15 a.m Tuesday and then charged with possession of marijuana, said police spokesman Sgt. Jimmy Manrrique.
The arrest took place when officers with the narcotics unit received a tip that a person was storing large amounts of marijuana in an apartment at 2724 Old Port Isabel Road, Manrrique said.
The officers went to the apartment and found 330 pounds of marijuana in plain view, police said.
Ruiz Castillo told officers an unnamed person had been paying him $100 a day to store the drugs for him, Manrrique said. Castillo had only had the drugs for two days.
