Jurors in the attempted capital murder trial of Cecilio Mendoza got a glimpse of what he might have been wearing the night a Brownsville police officer was shot during a home invasion.
Mendoza is accused of being involved in a firefight at a home in the 1300 block of Barnard Street that left Officer Rolando Trujillo wounded in February 2007.
Evidence presented this morning included a black ski mask that was located one house away from where Mendoza had been hiding.
Also presented was a pair of tennis shoes, with apparent blood stains, that authorities say belonged to Mendoza. A bloody sock also was brought forward as evidence.
Mendoza is one of three people accused in the home invasion that left Trujillo injured.
Los Fresnos resident Jose Limon, 35, was shot and killed by police after he shot at Trujillo striking him three times, police at the time said. Police responded to the home on Barnard Street after a man called police saying at least six family members were being held by two armed men.
