Magic
Magic is mysterious
It makes people think
Hats, capes, and wands
What’s the common link?
Imaginations run wild; it’s over in a blink.

Making magic as you can see it is
Amazing for you and me
Going, going, gone
Inside the hat a
Cat and rabbit there they sat.

Magic
It’s between us,
With no fear at all,
It was amazing,
Couldn’t believe what I saw,
There’s just no way,
That’s just impossible,
That was impressive,
That was unstoppable,
I really admire it,
That was just fantastic,
Well what do you know,
It was pure MAGIC!

The impossible
Unbelievable
The imagination runs wild
Where it comes to life
Wonder and confusion
In an illusion
In the blue sky

Magic
Magic is a thing that you dream about.
And when you find the magic
it is powerful in your heart.
I feel it when I close my eyes.
I see colors.
Donna Gallardo
First Grade,
Garden Park Elementary
Magic
The dust is glitter
It sprinkles all over me like falling snowflakes
My wish is extraordinary
I wish as big as a whale
My wand is the ultimate power
I firmly grasp it like I would a baseball bat
Its movements are powerful
I sway it left to right like a broomstick
The hat is breathtaking
I care for it like a child
The hat is a suitcase
Objects as big as bikes can escape its walls
Magic is power
You can do things you never thought were possible
Magic is a gift
A gift as wonderful as a miracle.

Magic is in dance
Magic gives you a chance
Magic is in your skin
Magic is what you want to be in
Magic has no size
Magic could be in your eyes
Magic is in the air
Magic is everywhere!

Magic
What could it be?
Magic
A rabbit appears in a hat

Or you turn around and see a flying star
Magic
What will you be?

Magic
As I stare down the hat
There is nothing in sight
I search for the hare
That I know should be there
My hands are all sweaty
When I see two big ears
Coming out of the hole
My fears disappear and
They soon turn into hope

Magic
If I wave my hand
with a magic wand
would all the problems
in the world be gone?
As soon as I know it
in the spark of a wand
all my problems are gone!

Magic
I am…
I am the elusive,
I am the sought,
I am the happiness,
I am your thought,
You always dream,
For me to beam,
Into your very soul,
Even if the power and anguish,
Is beyond your control,
I am power,
I am grace,
I am life,
I am magic.

You can believe it

Magic
A star falls through the lonely sky
A bird chirps in a high pitch cry
The leaves fall
People start to stand tall.
Then winter comes
With its snowy white
And coats the earth
In a bright shiny light.
Everything happens
In its place and time
It’s magical
In this world and rhyme.

Ninth Grade,
First Baptist School
Magic
There are so many magic tricks
I would like to see.
One would be to have all my homework
done for me.
Or, have my room cleaned up for me.
A more important magic trick for me to see,
Is that our world live in harmony.
But, as we can see,
magic is only an illusion to me.
Elijah Salinas
Third Grade,
Russell Elementary
Magic
A meadow with everything,
flowers of every color you don’t expect,
animals that call to each other jubilantly,
this place is full of magic.
Small winged creatures flitter by,
wings of every color possible,
everything full of magic,
where to find this magical place though.
To find this place you need one thing,
everyone has this,
it is inside your heart where there is love,
for that is what magic is.

Magic
The world is black and white.
Something is either there or not.
There is no in between.
Then where does all the color come from?
Miracles, life’s wonders are magic.
The colors of the rainbow
and anything in between.
What was is no longer
What no longer was now is.
Magic is what keeps everything exciting.
Olivia Vásquez
Ninth Grade,
Lopez High School
Magic
What if magic could change the world?
What if magic could make me see into the future?
Would I see who I would marry, my children, my house?
What if magic could make me a good dancer because I liked to dance a lot?
What if magic could get my dad a job?
Magic could be wonderful!
Vianey Zárate

Magic
Fireworks blend in the sunny dull sky
Warm images arise unexpectedly
Crashing all before seen,
With only a blink of an eye erasing all possibilities
Fireworks flash in the starry dark sky
Cool breeze flows without direction
Sense of freedom is in the atmosphere
Magically removing all concerns.
Marylyn Mata
12th Grade,

Magic
As daylight returns to grassy field,
And the sun awaits for the day to begin.
Ground shakes up to mountains,
While oceans surf over the edges of island.
Plants bloom when day arrives,
Then trees grow their twigs, leaves, and fruits.
The ball of light fades and goes down,
When the moon rises for night.
Dew drops on blades of grass falling,
Silver lights in the nearby lakes.
The day ends when it is replayed and improved,
As this is the magic of the new world.

Transformations
shapeshifting
found only in magical places
you can turn into anything you want
turn into a dragon, turn into a bat
anywhere, any time, for anyone
Imagine the possibilities.

Saved from times of misery,
Redeemed from a life so tragic.
My burden is gone.
I sing a new song.
My life is now filled with magic.

Magic
Fireflies are magical because they can light up the world
Even when I close my eyes I can still see the bright light
Birds are also magical
When they chirp their song
It sounds like my favorite song
These are just two magical creatures, but there are more to see
In this magical world

Magic
What is magic? Can you tell me?
Is magic just a mystery?
Or is it more than just a fable,
something people just throw around under the table?
What is magic? Is it real?
Is it something you can actually feel?
Or is it all a lie, a hoax?
Is magic just for dreamy folks?
What is magic? Does it exist?
Or is it hiding in the mist?
Everyone points at their chest and says, "It is there."
I can’t find it anywhere.
These are the things I used to say,
when I was younger, asking away.
I now understand "magic," is a fact.
It is not a thing; it is an act.
Magic is love, laughs, life.
Magic is being free of strife.
Magic is an act of kindness, a random deed,
Something to help someone in need.
"What is magic," I used to ask,
but this was in the very past.
I now try to give magic in any way,
including this poem, which I am giving you today

Sixth Grade,

Magic
Magic fills the air.
On a falling star we make wishes,
A wizard makes magic spells with his wand.
A kid might make a wish on a coin in a fountain
Or on a falling star
A wizard’s wand is full of magic.
Magic fills the air.
Jorge Aleman
Fifth Grade,
Incarnate Word Academy
Magic
Magic is that one wish
That one hope
That everything will continue
To go on after tragic events
That have come
Magic is that glimmer of joy
In a young one’s eye
When they fall in love with someone special
The hope that they won’t be rejected but welcomed
Into the arms of their special someone
Magic is that single tear that flows down one’s cheek
After they lose someone dear to them
It is the knowing that the person is in a better place now
Magic is our dreams
Dreams of a better future
Of love and happiness
Magic is that welcoming feeling
When you return somewhere
Like magic for me is the welcoming
Feeling when I am beside my father and mother
That is where I belong, that is where the heart is
Magic is everything around us
All you have to do is believe and
It will be and is there always.
Krista López
Sixth Grade,
Vela Middle School
Magic
Magic can’t be seen;
It lies, it glides,
It’s sly, it hides.
It sneaks and creeps,
It crawls and climbs,
It plays and teases.
Magic is beautiful;
It’s spring love, it’s summer flings,
It’s winter’s shine, autumn’s breeze.
It’s a baby giggle, adorably worthwhile.
It’s your crush’s smile, the sun in your world.
Magic can only be felt;
The warmth of the sunshine
On a bitter cold day
A hug when you’re scared,
A kiss to take the worries away
A laugh to soften your heart,
When things get just too hard
Memories of fun to dry your tears,
When magic is gone

Lopez High School
