$92K worth of marijuana discovered in tires of pickup
Comments 0 | Recommend 0U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Gateway International Bridge discovered 92 pounds of marijuana hidden in the tires of a pickup.
Officers say Hugo A. Olmedo Paredes, 26, a Mexican national living in Brownsville, was crossing the bridge Sunday in a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 when he was sent for a secondary inspection.
"Misha," a narcotic detector dog, alerted officers to the drugs in the tires. After an x-ray of the truck, CBP discovered metal compartments within the four tires.
The marijuana has a street value of more than $92,000. Olmedo Paredes was turned over to ICE agents to face federal drug charges.
