Shootout at PGR offices in Matamoros

The approach of Tropical Storm Alex apparently hasn’t had an effect on border violence.

This morning, sources confirmed a gunfire attack on the Matamoros building of Mexico’s Attorney General’s Office –PGR.

The building is located on Sixth Street, a few blocks away from B&M International Bridge.

Official information from the PGR hasn’t been released and calls to their public relations office in Reynosa went unanswered this morning.

A source with firsthand knowledge of criminal activity in Matamoros reported that several gunmen in SUV’s fired upon the building late Monday or Tuesday morning.  The information was corroborated by a Mexican law enforcement official.

It couldn’t be learned at the time if the attack left anyone injured or dead
