The Brownsville Honor Guard was formed about five years ago, but this is the first time to present the American flag at a professional sporting event, said a CBP press release.
"This is a great opportunity to showcase CBP," said Jeffrey O. Baldwin, the director of CBP’s Houston field operations. "This venue highlights our professionalism and stands as a reminder of our commitment to safeguard our nations borders. It’s also an excellent outreach opportunity."
Color Guard Chief Jesus Baez said the experience of presenting colors at a National Basketball Association game was unique and his team felt the support of his fellow officers and superiors.
"My team was very excited to be invited ... to present the colors at this game," he said.
