Guy Bailey, the sole finalist to become president of the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, will visit the area on Friday.
Bailey will meet with students, staff, faculty and county delegations from both UT Brownsville and UT Pan American.
From 8:45 a.m. to noon, he will be on the UTB campus and from 1:10 p.m. to 4:35 p.m. he will visit the UTPA campus.
During the April 28 UT System Board of Regents meeting, Bailey was named the sole finalist for the presidential position. He is the former president of Texas Tech University and the University of Alabama.
His visit will be an opportunity for the community to ask questions and learn about the finalist. By state law, the regents must wait 21 days after naming a finalist before making an official appointment.
The UT System’s Board of Regents will meet Wednesday and Thursday in Austin. Tuition proposals will be discussed at Wednesday’s meeting.
