Police: Man confesses to injuring 3 in hit and run
Comments 0 | Recommend 0A man is in critical condition and another in jail after a hit-and-run Friday morning on Sunrise Boulevard, police said.
Sean Anthony Perez, 18, was charged with three counts of accident involving injury and three counts of intoxicated assault after he confessed to hitting Claudia Guzman, 27; her boyfriend Genaro Flores, 26; and Adalberto Guzman, 22, in the parking lot of Gold's Gym, Brownsville Police Department spokesman Jimmy Manrrique said.
The three victims were walking from Koi to Shenanigans when they were "hit from behind" by a vehicle at approximately 12:30 a.m., Claudia Guzman said.
Perez, driving a black Isuzu Trooper, struck the pedestrians and two cars in the parking lot and then fled the scene, Manrrique said.
Minutes later, police apprehended Perez after he crashed into two more vehicles in front of Chase Bank on FM 802, police said.
No one was injured in the accident outside the bank.
"Flores (one of the victims) obviously suffered severe head trauma," Manrrique said.
Flores underwent surgery at Valley Baptist Medical Center-Harlingen Friday afternoon.
"He's in critical condition right now," his brother Gerardo said at 2:30 p.m. Friday. "He already spent a year in Iraq."
Claudia and Adalberto Guzman were treated at the hospital and then released Friday.
