Valley men charged with sharing child pornography
Comments 0 | Recommend 0EDINBURG - Two Hidalgo County men could face up to 20 years in prison on charges that they downloaded and shared pornographic images of children over the Internet.
Jack Arnold Heflin, 30, of McAllen and Jay Cirilo Garcia, 29, of Mercedes, who was arrested March 17 at Valley Baptist Medical Center-Brownsville, where he worked security. Both men were indicted March 12 on charges of possession and promotion of child pornography.
Garcia was released from a Cameron County jail after posting a $249,999 bond.
Heflin, a retail store employee, came to the attention of the Texas Attorney General's Cyber Crimes Unit after he was allegedly noticed sharing sexually-suggestive images and videos of children on an online file sharing forum.
Investigators also found several pornographic images on Garcia's computer. He had worked as a security guard at a Harlingen hospital at the time of the investigation, the Attorney General's office said Monday in a written statement.
