'48 Hours' to air Traci Rhode story
Comments 0 | Recommend 0The "48 Hours" one-hour episode on Traci Rhode, who was convicted in late 2007 of killing her husband, Scott, is scheduled to air Saturday on the local CBS affiliate KGBT-4.
The show, titled "Point Blank," will air at 9 p.m. on Channel 4, and depicts the life story of Traci and Scott, who were high school sweethearts and married.
Scott took a job as an engineer here in early 2003, and shortly thereafter moved his family of four to a home on Tamarack Drive. On Oct. 15, 2003, Traci shot Scott in the head while he slept.
Traci was found guilty by a jury of killing Scott and given a 10-year probation sentence. Harold Dow, correspondent for 48 Hours, reports the story for the network.
Jurors found that Traci killed Scott to pursue a love affair with another man and because Scott had initiated divorce proceedings. Rhode maintains her innocence.
"People are going to have their minds blown," Dow said. "I've been covering court cases for 36 years, I have never seen an outcome - I've never even heard of anything like that."
Traci's attorneys, Ernesto Gamez and retired state district Judge Roberto Garza, as well as Brownsville Police Detective Sam Lucio and Chief First Assistant District Attorney Chuck Mattingly were interviewed for the one-hour show.
