August heat will feel like 107 degrees today
Weather service recommends drinking more water
A National Weather Service advisory for the Rio Grande Valley Tuesday warned that summer heat and humidity will team up to make South Texas a dangerous sauna.
Heat index values -- which measure how hot it feels outside -- may reach to 107 this afternoon, while the actual temperature hovers just below 100.
Outdoor workers should take pains to stay hydrated throughout the day and take extra breaks, a weather advisory warns.
People whose bodies are accustomed to air conditioning need as long as two weeks to adjust to working outside, as electrolyte levels in sweat change in response to conditions.
