Police: 40 laptops stolen from Pace High School recovered

    Comments 0 | Recommend 0

Nearly 40 laptops stolen from Pace High School were recovered by Brownsville Independent School District Police after the department received a tip indicating potential suspects, spokesman Oscar Garcia said.

The Dell laptops were stolen shortly before Hurricane Dolly made landfall in Brownsville in July, Garcia said.

Two of the four suspects in the investigation are former students of the high school, Garcia said.

So far, Frank Lopez Jr. has been charged with theft and engaging in organized crime, police said.

"We've been able to recover most (of the laptops) at suspects' homes," Garcia said. "We've been fortunate to walk those tracks very carefully."

The department is still in the process of gathering information, which Garcia hopes will lead to more arrests.
