An additional charge has been filed against a 27-year-old Harlingen man accused in the kidnapping of a Primera teenager.

Accused kidnapper Victor Garcia is now charged with a count of sexual assault, Brownsville police Sgt. Jimmy Manrrique.

Because Garcia is accused of having sex with a minor, details about the victim and what and where the alleged assault happened cannot be released, Manrrique said.

Garcia remains in custody at a Cameron County jail. He was arraigned on one count of sexual assault today before Brownsville Municipal Judge Ben Neece. Garcia’s bond is set at $50,000.

He also has been charged with kidnapping and possession of marijuana. His total bond is $130,000

It is the Brownsville Herald’s policy not to publish the names of sexual assault victims.
