Harlingen franchise showcase scheduled today
The South Texas Franchise Showcase takes place today from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Valle Vista Mall, adjacent to Dillards, in Harlingen.
The event will give would-be franchisees a chance to speak with representatives of franchises that are looking to expand or establish a presence in the Rio Grande Valley.
The showcase will offer individuals help finding the right franchise as well as information on franchise investments through foreign investment visas.
Time slots are available for individual meetings with franchisors as well as immigration attorneys, site-selection specialists, and translators as needed. Registration is $80 at the door. Seating is limited. www.texasfranchiseconnection.com.
Expo invites woman- and minority-owned businesses
Woman- and minority-owned businesses can expand their opportunities to do business with Texas government at the state Comptroller’s annual HUB Expo June 27 in Austin. HUB stands for “Historically Underutilized Businesses.”
The day-long event gives HUBs an opportunity to network with state agency purchasers and state contractors interested in doing business with HUBs.
The event’s workshops will provide tips on successful bid submission and methods of obtaining working capital, and offer a preview of future contracting opportunities in construction, information technologym, professional services and procurement.
During the 2010 fiscal year, 16,495 businesses statewide were HUB certified and received a total of $2.1 billion in state contracts. The expo takes place at the Crowne Plaza Austin Hotel, 6121 N.
