Tropical weather organizing in Caribbean, Gulf of Mexico
The National Hurricane Service reports that a vigorous tropical disturbance over the northwestern Caribbean Sea and southeastern Gulf of Mexico is producing widespread cloudiness and thunderstorms. A tropical depression could form over the next few days as this system moves northwest at 15 mph. Heavy rains and gusty winds are possible over the Yucatan Peninsula and western Cuba over the next day or so. The tropical system is located in the same general area where Hurricane Alex formed a little over a week ago.
