Prostitution, alcohol arrests after raid at Edinburg all-nude club
EDINBURG — Authorities made two arrests at a sexually oriented business here after undercover officers were illegally sold liquor and received an offer to have sex for money.
Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission officers raided Jaguars, an all-nude club at 5021 W. State Highway 107, after receiving complaints that the club was selling liquor without a license.
Undercover TABC agents working alongside Hidalgo County Precinct 4 deputy constables bought a bottle of Buchanan’s scotch whisky from a valet outside the business during the sting Saturday night, said Sgt. Joe Cavazos with the TABC McAllen office.
The undercover officers waited for backup to arrive after purchasing the liquor, Cavazos said, and one of the dancers approached the men and offered to have sex for money.
“We didn’t expect this type of activity to be going on, to be honest with you,” he said.
State law prohibits clubs like Jaguars with fully nude performers from obtaining a liquor license, but it is legal for patrons to bring in their own alcohol.
Officers arrested the dancer, Sandra Molar, 40, and the valet, Carlos Omar Hernandez, 38.
Molar was charged with one count of prostitution, a misdemeanor. Bond was set at $5,000.
Hernandez was charged with selling liquor without a license, a misdemeanor. Bond was set at $10,000.
Formerly known as Longhorn Saloon, the all-nude club reopened as Jaguars about a month ago, city officials said.
