Today is the last day to cast an early vote in the Brownsville municipal June 6 run-off election for two seats on the City Commission.

The two seats up for election are the At-Large B race between Rose M. Z. Gowen and Carlos C. Ayala Jr. and the District 3 contest between Melissa Zamora and Carlos A. Cisneros.

Early voting on Monday was still underway at press time, but voting turnout seemed slightly decreasing as the early voting days progressed.

From May 26 through May 30, a total of 1,746 early votes had been cast.

About 300 could be expected for Monday if daily turnouts are any indication.

The daily voting turnout from Tuesday, May 26 through Saturday, May 30 was as follows: 411, 379, 371, 354, and 231. The early voting poll at the
Brownsville Public Library was drawing the most voters at 1,031. The lowest turnout was being reported at the University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas
Southmost College poll with 77 votes for the five-day total.

In the May 9 election, which included the District 4 commission seat and two amendments to the City Charter, the early voting period drew 2,299 votes.
On May 9, Zamora took the early vote over Cisneros 395-353 while Gowen also took the early vote over Ayala 1,226 to 792.
