Dolly could intensify to Category 2 hurricane as it reaches coastline
Maximum sustained winds from Hurricane Dolly have increased to 85 mph as of 6 a.m. according the National Weather Service in Brownsville.
Dolly is a Category 1 hurricane on Saffir-Simpson Scale and could intensify to a Category 2 as it reaches the coastline later today.
The center of Hurricane Dolly was located near latitude 25.8 N and longitude 96.6 W or roughly 55 miles east of Brownsville as of 6 a.m.
The hurricane is moving toward the northwest at 8 mph with the eye of the storm expected to make landfall around midday today.
