Port Isabel pushes back start of school date
Still cleaning mess left by Hurricane Dolly
Hurricane Dolly may have come and gone, but the storm has pushed back the start of school for students living in the Point Isabel Independent School District.
School officials said school will not start on Aug. 25 as scheduled. It will start on Sept. 8.
The schools were damaged by the hurricane and the district is in the process of drying out the schools, removing tiles and disinfecting the buildings as well.
The school district services students living in the Laguna Madre area, which includes South Padre Island, Port Isabel, Laguna Vista and Laguna Heights.
