A Royal Affair to benefit the Moody Clinic
Comments 0 | Recommend 0On April 19 the Moody Clinic will hold a benefit at the Camille Playhouse and Dean Porter Park with fun for the whole family.
A youth theater performance of "Sleeping Beauty" as well as a catered lunch, bouncy castles, slides and a children's paddle boat lagoon will be included in the cost of admission.
"The Moody Clinic has touched the lives of many people in Brownsville," said Liz Harris, the patient community liaison for the clinic. "Many people in Brownsville know a friend of family member who has gone to the Moody Clinic or benefited from someone they know going there."
This is the second year the benefit will be held. In previous years the Clinic held adult oriented fundraisers, but found that the family-themed event provided a fun, inclusive activity that underscores its medical purpose: the rehabilitation of children.
The Moody Clinic was founded in 1952 as a nonprofit organization providing physical therapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy for children up to 21 years of age.
The clinic serves about 150 patients a month with 92% of those patients in the low-income bracket.
Last year, the fundraiser netted $30,000. Admission for adults is $25 and children over two are $10. The fundraiser also benefits from ad sales in the event's program book, with ad space ranging from $75 to $350.
For more information about advertising in the program book, contact the Moody Clinic at (956) 542-8504.
