A resolution authorizing the award of professional service provider contracts for the 2007-2008 Texas Community Block Grant;

A proposed tax rate;

schedule two public hearings.

Budget workshop for the 2007-2008 fiscal year.

Brownsville City Commission

What: Executive session, workshop and special meeting

In executive session, commissioners will discuss real estate matters and have a workshop on the budget and projects of the Brownsville Beautification Committee.

The City Commission will consider advancing funds to the Brownsville Convention and Visitors Bureau at today’s special meeting.

The requested transfer to BCVB of 2008 fiscal year hotel/motel taxes is in the amount of $94,168.

The bureau is now under the new management of Mariano “Bean” Ayala, following the resignation of director Mike C. Gonzalez.

Other items on the agenda include:

— A review of prospective property tax rates for the coming fiscal year and call for public hearings.

— Authorizing the start of condemnation proceedings on property to house a bus terminal. Albino Carrasco & Associates owns the property. Staff notes that the firm has not responded to the city’s offer of $400,000 for the land.
