The public is invited to celebrate Earth Day at the Zoo from 10 to 3 p.m., Saturday, April 19.  You won't want to miss the froggy themed fun activities and crafts and prizes.  Learn about the amphibian crisis and what you can do to help save the frogs.

The zoo will have an amphibian trail where visitors can take action by answering questions to receive a prize, make a frog mask, frog face painting, temporary frog tattoos, peek boxes (were everyone who takes a peek gets a firsthand look at the main threats that amphibians face) and sample "frog-friendly" backyard habitat

Starbucks decided to support amphibian conservation by making Party for the Planet their Make Your Mark Project.  The Make Your Mark Program is Starbucks way of supporting and encouraging partners' volunteer efforts in their local communities.  Make Your Mark provides grants in correlation to the number of hours volunteered to benefiting non-profit organizations.

After thriving for 360 million years, one-third of the world's, approximately 6,000 amphibian species could go extinct in our lifetime.  This would be the largest mass extinction since the disappearance of dinosaurs.
