CDCB recieves grants to help with homes

The Community Development Corporation of Brownsville has received three grants from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas to help low-income families own a new home.

Approximately $300,000 was divided into three grants, to provide homes in the Inwood, Campo Real and Colonia subdivisions.

"We will assist about $7,000 to each client," said Nick Mitchell, executive director of the CDCB. "And we will help around 42 families to buy a home."

The CDCB, whose mission is to assist low-income families in attaining home ownership, will help pay down payments and closing costs for the prospective families.

Frost Bank, the International Bank of Commerce and Lone Star National Bank, which are members of the FHLB, helped fund the project.

For more information, call the CDCB at (956) 541-4955 or visit www.cdcb.org.
